EDUCATIONAL MASCOT CHARACTERS
DIGITAL ILLUSTRATION
This project was in collaboration with the National association of medical Spanish (NAMS). They were creating a series of courses to prepare doctors for working with english-as-a-second-language patients. These courses were to feature six different mascot characters, each appearing in three different poses throughout the course.
I began each animal by sketching. I would work out the shapes, how their clothes would fit, and which posture they should assume.
Once I worked out the character sketches, I would do an ink and color test and send them off to the association's ceo, Pilar Ortega, who engaged actively with the design process.
Once the NAMS team provided their feedback, I would make any requested changes and proceed to illustrating the final versions of each character.
