Photoreceptor Diagram
Medical Illustration
The project was to create a set of diagrams for photoreceptors found in the eyes of humans and animals. I was illustrating for a team at DUKE that was conducting research on this subject.
I began by sketching, as well as taking plenty of notes. I am not a doctor, so when I sat with A doctor from the research team I would be illustrating for, I made sure to ask as many questions as I could.
Once I had a clear idea of what I was doing, i digitally painted the individual elements I would be using in this diagram
After making all of the individual elements, I pieced them together and began revisions with the team. I made sure to let them know I will revise until we get it right, and we worked together to make sure everything was exactly where and how it should be.
Finally, I tried different versions of background, vibrance, highlights, etc. I wanted to make sure that we get everything looking perfect.
